While there have been only 122 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Cambodia (as of May 10), that doesn’t mean that the people are not suffering. The government has closed all schools, museums, concerts and many business. Rural families are suffering from loss of income and lack of food. Families who normally get by on a few dollars a day, are now finding it hard to feed themselves.
We decided to help the families in Prey Touch Commune who were in greatest need. Several of our scholarship students packaged food for forty families. Representatives from each family came to the Bill and Nancy Kaun Khlong Primary School. Each family received a 25 pound bag of rice, fish sauce, soy sauce, canned fish, monosodium glutamate, a bar of soap and 20000 Riels (5$). Some of our scholarship students distributed the food to the villagers. We wish to thank Ven. Sovechea, the Global Buddhist Branch Team and teachers for their help.
