This January seven new students joined the Cambodian Village Fund Scholarship Program. They all completed high school with excellent grades. They are ambitious and dedicated to pursue a higher education. They come from Prey Touch commune in Northwest Cambodia, most of them raised on the small income of rice farmers and vegetable growers. They could not afford the cost of university.
Reaksmey: “There are six members in my family. My father and my brother are farmers and my mother sells vegetables at a small market in my village. I always go to help them, if I am not in school.”

The girls moved from their rural villages to Battambang City, where they live in the CVF dormitory. They are studying accounting, banking, IT, education and English literature. Some of them studied English at our free English Language Program and already speak good English. This is an important prerequisite for many of the future employment possibilities.
Sonita: “I chose Information Technology, IT, because I’ve been interested in this and I want to improve my country. I want to help people by making life easier and more convenient.“
A total of 28 students are currently in our scholarship program, studying at different universities. It takes four years to get a Bachelor’s degree. It costs CVF $1800 per student per year. The money covers tuition and expenses for books and materials, a laptop, medical and dental care, a room in the dormitory, money for groceries to cook meals and a small monthly allowance. We would love to admit more students. We hope you’ll support this life transforming program that is the CVF Scholarship Fund.
